About Stell

Stell helps engineers at hardware companies in heavily-regulated industries (Space, Aviation, Medical Devices) do documentation and tracking of technical contract compliance.

Stell’s key innovations are (1) a user-interface for building text-rich documentation while enabling the complex linking needed to describe hardware systems, and (2) secure collaboration on technical contracts, replacing email and PDFs for our customers and their customers.

In this Senior Software Engineer role you will:

  • Architect, develop, deploy, and maintain mission-critical, high-availability enterprise web applications.

  • Shape our technical future by collaborating with the CEO and Head of Engineering on roadmaps, architecture, and engineering best practices.

  • Develop and manage secure solutions for top-tier aerospace and defense clients within AWS GovCloud, ensuring FedRAMP compliance and NIST security standards.

  • Drive innovation by building proof-of-concept implementations to evaluate new technologies and design patterns.

  • Mentor and lead through architecture, design, and code reviews, elevating the entire engineering team.

  • Work across the full stack, from our databases and APIs to our client codebases and cloud infrastructure.

This may be a good fit if you have:

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a focus on building and scaling distributed systems.

  • A proven track record of shipping enterprise-grade web applications designed for high concurrency and availability.

  • Proficiency in a modern front-end framework like React, with an understanding of component optimization and performance tuning.

  • Experience applying architectural principles like Domain-Driven Design to solve complex business problems.

  • A strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and services on a major platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, product-focused mindset.

Bonus points if you have experience with:

  • Secure environments like AWS GovCloud and compliance frameworks like FedRAMP/NIST.

  • Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly Terraform.

  • Container orchestration using Kubernetes.

  • Working in an early-stage startup environment.
